Religious Significance of Sawan
The month of Sawan falls between July and August and is especially known for the worship of Lord Shiva. Mahadev is worshiped every Monday in this month, which is called ‘Sawan Somvar’. This time is very important for the devotees for worship, penance and religious rituals.
Marriages After Sawan
You will have to wait for three months for marriage after Sawan, because Chaturmas will end on Devuthani Ekadashi on November 12 and auspicious works will begin.

Why is There No Marriage in Sawan?
Marriages are not performed in Sawan because this month falls under Chaturmas, the time when Lord Vishnu is in Yoga Nidra for four months. Since marriage requires the blessings of Lord Vishnu, marriages are postponed during this period. According to religious texts, when Lord Vishnu is in Yoga Nidra, he hands over the responsibility of the Earth to Lord Shiva. Thus, worshiping Lord Shiva is considered especially beneficial, but Lord Shiva does not participate in marriages, which is why marriages are not performed in Sawan.
