About Indian Air Force
The Indian Armed Forces’ air force is called the Indian Air Force (IAF). Its primary mission is to get Indian airspace and to conduct aerial warfare during equipped contentions. Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification Required
- Flying Branch:
- Minimum of 50% marks in Maths and Physical science at 10+2 level.
- Graduation (three years degree course) with at minimum 60% marks or equivalent.
- A four-year BE/B Tech degree with at minimum 60% or its equivalent.
- Applicants who have gotten Section A and B examination of Associate from Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India with at least 60% marks or equivalent.
- Ground Duty (Technical) Branch:
- Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics): Minimum of 50% marks each in Physics and Maths at 10+2 level and a four-year degree in Engineering/Technology with at minimum 60% marks.
- Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical): Minimum of 50% marks each in Physics and Maths at 10+2 level and a four-year degree in Engineering/Technology with at minimum 60% marks.
- Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branch:
- Administration & Logistics: Graduation (three years degree course) with at minimum 60% marks or equivalent.
- Accounts Branch: B. Com degree or equivalent with a minimum of 60% marks.
- Education: Post-graduation with 50% marks and Graduation with a minimum of 60% marks.
- Meteorology: B.Sc. with Physics and Mathematics with at minimum 60% marks or a four-year Graduation in Engineering/Technology with at minimum 60% marks.
Age Limit
- Flying Branch: 20 to 24 years as of January 1, 2025 (Brought into the world between January 2, 2002, and January 1, 2006). The upper age limit for applicants holding validand current Commercial Pilot Licensegave by DGCA (India) is relaxable for as long as 26 years.
- Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical) Branch: 20-26 years old on January 1, 2025 (born between January 2, 2000 and January 1, 2006)
Selection Process
The Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) tests those who qualify for the AFCAT 2024 selection process, which begins with a written exam. The final merit list is arranged in light of the joined composed assessment and AFSB testing performance.
Written Examination: The AFCAT written examination consists of objective-type questions covering General Awareness, Verbal Ability in English, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test. The exam lasts two hours and has a maximum score of 300.
AFSB Testing: The following AFSB tests will be administered to candidates who pass the written exam:

- Stage-I: Officer Intelligence Rating Test along with Picture Perception and Discussion Test.
- Stage-II: Psychological test, Group Tests, and Interview.
- For Flying Branch: Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS).
